Overview
On behalf of our client, we are hiring a AI Platform Engineer to deliver high-impact data science and AI solutions that drive customer engagement and measurable business outcomes.

This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role within the Data Science & AI team, best suited for a candidate who is strong in applied data science and also comfortable operating close to production. The role requires someone who can not only develop models and GenAI solutions, but also support the infrastructure, deployment, and reliability practices needed to keep those solutions running effectively in an enterprise environment. In practical terms, this is a Data Science + SRE / MLOps / LLMOps role.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working across model development, Azure-based environments, Terraform-managed infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, incident response, and service reliability.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver data science and AI solutions end-to-end, from business problem framing through development, deployment, and production support.
• Build and improve machine learning and GenAI/LLM-based solutions with clear business relevance and measurable impact.
• Maintain strong engineering standards through high-quality Python development, code reviews, documentation, and disciplined delivery practices.
• Support and maintain Azure-based environments used for data science and AI workloads.
• Use Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices to manage and evolve existing cloud architecture.
• Improve deployment reliability and delivery speed through CI/CD optimization, GitHub Actions, and DevOps automation.
• Work closely with platform, infrastructure, cloud, and data teams to manage dependencies and ensure delivery continuity.
• Raise, coordinate, and follow through on L3 support requests across dependent teams where deeper technical support is required.
• Contribute to operational reliability by improving monitoring, deployability, incident response, and service support for production AI/ML systems.
• Define and improve SLA, SLI, and SLO practices for critical services and operational workflows. Participate in incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and recurrence prevention.
• Identify operational weaknesses and implement practical improvements that increase system stability and team efficiency.
• Support high availability, resilience, and secure operational design across cloud-based solutions.
• Communicate delivery progress, risks, incidents, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders and project leadership.

Candidate Profile
We are looking for a candidate who combines strong data science delivery capability with practical production and operational ownership.

This is not a pure research role and not a pure platform role. It is intended for someone who can build business-facing AI/ML solutions and also help ensure those solutions are deployable, stable, and maintainable. The ideal candidate is proactive, technically hands-on, comfortable working independently, and effective in cross-functional enterprise environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Languages
• Bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English is preferred (English is a MUST)
• Day-to-day communication will primarily be in English, with occasional interaction with Japanese-speaking stakeholders

Core Skills
• 6+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, advanced analytics, or applied AI, with demonstrated business results.
• Strong experience taking solutions from development into production and supporting them in live environments.
• Strong Python programming skills and solid engineering discipline.
• Experience with GenAI / LLM use cases or solution delivery.
• Hands-on experience with Azure for deploying, supporting, or operating production workloads.
• Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code in enterprise cloud environments.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitHub Actions, deployment automation, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with SRE, MLOps, or LLMOps, particularly in monitoring, incident handling, reliability, and operational support.
• Experience managing production incidents, service recovery, escalation coordination, and root cause analysis.
• Understanding high availability, resilience, and security-aware cloud ops.
• Strong ownership, follow-through, and coordination across infrastructure, cloud, data, and engineering teams.

Preferred
• Experience in financial services, ideally insurance.
• Experience with MLOps tooling and model lifecycle practices.
• Experience with LLMOps practices such as evaluation, observability, and prompt/version management.
• Experience with Power BI.
• Experience with PySpark.
