Head of Accounting – Japan & Financial Consolidation

■Employment Type: Full-time permanent
(3-month probationary period)
■Salary: Base JPY 14,400,000 + 20% target bonus
■Location: Tokyo (Hybrid telework options available)

■The Opportunity
This senior financial leadership role oversees domestic statutory accounting, global group consolidation, and key reporting functions. You will ensure full compliance with international reporting standards and debt covenants while advising executive leadership across regions.

■Key Responsibilities
・Direct monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close procedures across local and regional financial teams.

・Prepare and present IFRS consolidated financial statements for external stakeholders, lenders, and global leadership.

・Manage Japanese statutory reporting, local corporate tax filings, and JGAAP compliance.

・Lead service delivery quality for offshore business process outsourcing (BPO) partners handling transactional accounting.

・Oversee external audit engagements and serve as the main point of contact for global accounting firm relationships.

・Act as an international technical accounting SME, formulating group policies and accounting memorandums.

・Spearhead systems upgrade initiatives, including enterprise ERP rollouts and business intelligence reporting implementations.

・Monitor debt covenants, review transfer pricing structures, and manage cross-border payment authorizations.

・Collaborate with executive stakeholders across treasury, tax, supply chain, and FP&A to optimize financial governance.

こんな方を求めています

経験・スキル

■Required Experience and Skills
・Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
・Active CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent qualification.
・7+ years of progressive financial accounting, reporting, and controlling experience within a multinational setting.
・In-depth practical knowledge of both IFRS and JGAAP frameworks.
・Proven supervisory experience managing direct reports and guiding offshore operational partners.
・Practical expertise utilizing enterprise ERP systems and multi-currency consolidation tools.
・Business-level or fluent in both Japanese and English.

■Preferred Qualifications
・6 to 8 years of foundational experience within a Big 4 public accounting firm.
・Master of Business Administration (MBA).
・Direct experience participating in ERP migrations or implementing reporting automation tools.
