Reports To: Legal Division Head
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and high-integrity License Management Head to lead key operational legal functions and drive organizational transformation within our Legal Division.
In this role, you will act as a trusted legal partner, translating legal complex requirements into practical business strategies while ensuring our company’s reputation, compliance, and operational integrity are fully protected. You will work closely with executive leadership, operational divisions, global legal teams, and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Digital Transformation
Partner with the Legal Division Head to lead organizational transformation, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness across the division.
Drive digital transformation initiatives aimed at streamlining legal workflows and supporting proactive business growth.
Educate, train, and mentor team members to elevate professional standards and capabilities across the division.
Operational Legal & Risk Management
Oversee and manage key operational legal functions, including:
License Management: Driving improvements and oversight for enterprise business licenses.
Contracting & Management: Managing contract review, drafting, and full lifecycle execution.
Work Visa Management: Oversight of visa processing and immigration compliance.
Manage internal departmental budgets, personnel, and engagement/coordination with external legal counsel.
Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Collaboration
Build strong partnership networks with commercial business lines and internal corporate support functions.
Collaborate closely with APAC regional legal teams and Global Legal headquarters.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Required Experience:
Extensive legal experience in a leading law firm or as in-house counsel.
Deep practical knowledge of Japanese corporate legal frameworks, including:
Worker Dispatch Act & Employment Security Law
Labor & Employment Laws
Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Data Privacy Law)
Companies Act & Administrative Law
Proven track record in dispute resolution, including litigation management.
Demonstrated ability to manage multi-faceted projects and coordinate across business units.
Desired Attributes & Competencies:
Bar Admission: Admitted to the Bar in Japan or an overseas jurisdiction is strongly preferred.
Business Acumen: Ability to proactively advise and guide commercial leadership while remaining objective, fair, and independent in decision-making.
Resourcefulness & Adaptability: Skilled at navigating ambiguous, changing environments with composure and a constructive, solution-oriented focus.
Communication: Exceptional ability to build trusted relationships across all organizational levels locally and internationally.
