Now, we are launching an ambitious expansion into Japan. We are looking for a visionary Senior Manager – Legal & Compliance to serve as our foundational legal architect in Tokyo.

A Rare "Ground-Floor" Strategic Role
This isn't just a maintenance role—it is a rare opportunity to build, scale, and lead a market entry. You will own the development of our Japanese legal, regulatory, and compliance frameworks from the ground up while navigating complex, cutting-edge financial regulations.
What You Will Accomplish:
Lead Regulatory Strategy: Act as our primary liaison with key regulators, including the Financial Services Agency (FSA), overseeing licensing applications, inquiries, and regulatory audits.
Build Frameworks: Establish, maintain, and oversee comprehensive legal, compliance, and governance programs tailored to local Japanese laws (AML/CFT, sanctions, data privacy, consumer protection).
Drive Commercial Growth: Draft, negotiate, and execute critical agreements with key banking partners, enterprise customers, and local vendors to accelerate business expansion.
Advise Leadership: Serve as the core subject-matter expert on payments, merchant acquiring, and fintech regulations for internal multinational stakeholders and external counsel.

What You Bring:
Experience: 10–15+ years of legal and/or compliance experience within payments, fintech, merchant acquiring, or financial services.
Market Entry Track Record: Hands-on experience scaling a regulated financial business in Japan and engaging directly with the FSA.
Language Skills: Business-fluent (native-level equivalent) written and spoken Japanese and English to communicate seamlessly across local and global teams.
Education: Degree in Law, Business, Finance, or Compliance (Legal qualification preferred).
