An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel to join the Japan legal team of a world-renowned global leader in energy management and automation.
Ranked as the #1 most sustainable corporation in the world, this organization is experiencing significant organic growth and is seeking a commercially-minded lawyer to act as a strategic partner for their Tokyo operations.
The Role Reporting directly to the General Counsel - East Asia & Japan, the successful candidate will provide strategic legal support to ensure compliant and risk-balanced decision-making across the business.
This is a high-visibility position requiring the ability to operate autonomously within a global framework.
Strategic Advisory: Partner closely with senior leaders across HR, Finance, Procurement, Operations, and commercial functions.
Diverse Contract Portfolio: Prepare, review, and lead negotiations for complex commercial, software, construction, and industry-standard contracts.
Regional Collaboration: Lead cluster initiatives and template localization while collaborating with global teams across East Asia.
Compliance & Governance: Drive competition law programs and oversee corporate governance and entity management.

Requirements
Qualifications: Fully qualified lawyer (Bachelor’s degree in Law) with at least 6 years' relevant PQE.
Language Skills: High-level proficiency in both Japanese and English (written and verbal) is required for success in this role.
In-House Track Record: Proven experience operating within an in-house environment for an international company.
Professional Skill Set: Strong technological skills and a proactive approach to identifying critical commercial and legal issues.
