A US-based life insurance company with over 50 years of operations in Japan is seeking a legal professional to join its Tokyo team. This role serves as a legal business partner for investment and finance departments, supporting a portfolio that includes onshore and offshore assets exceeding JPY10 trillion.

Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will report to the Unit Leader for Investments and Finance and handle the following:

Legal Advisory: Provide legal advice regarding investment and financial activities.
Documentation: Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents for securities, real estate, alternative investments, derivatives, and hedge transactions.
Financial Transactions: Manage legal documentation for cash management, reinsurance, and related financial transactions.
Project Participation: Join local, regional (Asia), and global initiatives related to investments and finance.
Stakeholder Management: Liaise with legal counterparts in the U.S. and affiliated asset management companies.
Business Support: Attend meetings with various lines of business to provide legal perspective and resolve operational issues.

Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial institutions (banks, investment banks, insurance companies) or law firms serving financial clients.
Japanese or overseas lawyer qualification is preferred.
Experience in structured finance, real estate investments, alternative investments, or derivatives is preferred.

Skills & Language
Japanese: Native level.
English: Business level (reading and writing).
Ability to provide solutions for strategic issues and work within a team environment.

Working Style
Capable of managing frequent communication with various business units.
Interest in the life insurance industry and investment legal practices.
Ability to work in a global environment with international stakeholders.
