(professional Contract) Azure Cloud Engineer (Databricks)

On behalf of one of USA's top insurance companies, Randstad is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer with strong expertise in Microsoft Azure
analytics services, particularly Azure Databricks, to support, operate, and evolve our enterprise data platforms.

This role will focus on building and operating secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud foundations that enable advanced analytics, data engineering, and AI
workloads across the organization. You will work closely with data engineers, analytics teams, and application teams to ensure Azure analytics services are reliable, well governed, and aligned with enterprise cloud standards.

This is a contract role with Randstad, based in Tokyo. It is a hybrid role with up to 4 days a week working from home option. The team is multicultural and speaks English mostly, and have a good work life balance. As this role is relatively urgent, we will prioritize candidates based in Japan with a valid working visa.

Key Responsibilities
 Design, deploy, and operate Azure-based analytics platforms with a focus
on Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage, and related PaaS services
 Support endtoend lifecycle management of analytics services, including provisioning, upgrades, monitoring, and incident resolution
 Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Bicep for analytics environments
 Partner with data engineering and analytics teams to enable secure and performant data pipelines (batch and streaming)
 Implement cloud security best practices including RBAC, Managed Identity, Key Vault, and network isolation for data platforms
 Monitor platform health, performance, and cost; proactively optimize
Databricks clusters and analytics workloads
 Support CI/CD pipelines for analytics infrastructure and platform components using Azure DevOps or similar tooling
 Contribute to platform documentation, operational runbooks, and cloud standards
 Stay current with Azure analytics roadmap, Databricks features, and cloud governance best practices

経験・スキル

Required Skills & Qualifications
 Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
 3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in a cloud engineering or platform role
 Practical experience supporting Azure Databricks in production or enterprise environments
 Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity, and security fundamentals
 Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform, ARM, Bicep, PowerShell, or Python)
 Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or Application Insights
 Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to operate missioncritical platforms

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
 Experience with additional Azure analytics services such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Event Hub, or Azure ML
 Understanding of modern data architectures (data lake, lakehouse, data warehouse)
 Experience with DevOps practices for platform engineering and analytics workloads
 Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Data Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect)
 Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments with strong governance requirements
 Working proficiency in both English and Japanese (business level Japanese is a plus)
