Enhancement and Implementation of compliance policies and procedures and Culture of Integrity:
As a member of the global legal and compliance team, the candidate will assist in creating, developing, fine-tuning, and implementing compliance policies and procedures, considering global compliance trends, the environment we operate in, as well as country-specific risks and threats, with the goal of mitigating anticipated and unanticipated risks primarily in Japan and Korea, but with global trends in mind. The role also includes supporting leaders in Japan and Korea by leading by example and working to create a world-class compliance program in Japan and Korea.
Compliance training:
Closely work with the Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel, and CHRO to create a catalog and plan of compliance training, both computer-based and in person, including risk-based focused group training of targeted groups of employees.
Investigation of concerns raised:
Conduct compliance investigations in Japan and Korea, by themselves or with external counsel, of concerns raised via employee hotline, walk-in, or other channels according to internal procedures, and maintain the database at NAVEX. Manage external counsel’s investigation according to the External Counsel Policy and additional terms and conditions the engagement may have based on the directions from the Chief Compliance Officer depending on the nature of the matter.
Business-led Compliance Initiatives:
The role also includes supporting business-led compliance initiatives, if any, serving as a liaison between the relevant business and global corporate compliance functions, ensuring a seamless, smooth implementation of various initiatives and programs without any conflicts causing inefficiencies.
Supporting Internal Audit:
The position will also support the Internal Audit team in Japan. Responsibilities include:
Defining the necessary controls in conjunction with the region’s Internal Audit function leadership, with the knowledge of business cycles and associated key risks in our business in Japan and Korea.
Reviewing audit metrics to ensure adherence to controls and any remediation plan set by the Internal Audit function.
Supporting Sales/Marketing Function and Purchasing Function:
As Legal Counsel in charge of Commercial in Japan and Korea, the position will also support Sales and Marketing as well as Purchasing in connection with contractual issues. Major tasks include developing master terms and conditions for contracts with Japanese car manufacturers and suppliers in Japan, properly controlling contractual risks, and working with Commercial Legal Counsel for other regions to develop and implement global general terms and conditions with local markets in mind.

- 3+ post qualification experience in a reputable law firm and/or in a multi-national corporation
Exceptional verbal/written communication skills with ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority in both English and Japanese.
Must be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to role model ethical leadership and set a standard for ethics and integrity. - 学歴
