Senior Legal Counsel Opportunity – Healthcare Sector
Our client is a leading global healthcare organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its dynamic team in Japan. This is an exceptional opportunity to provide strategic legal counsel and support to key business units, shaping critical decisions and navigating the complexities of the Japanese healthcare landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide expert legal advice and guidance to the Surgical Business and Vision Care Business Unit.
• Draft, review, analyze, modify, and negotiate a wide range of complex commercial agreements and contractual instruments.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of legal templates and processes to enhance efficiency.
• Develop innovative solutions to address evolving contractual requirements, obligations, and risk exposures.
• Interpret and ensure compliance with the Fair Competition Code (FCC), relevant laws and regulations, and provide strategic guidance to achieve business objectives.
• Educate business partners on key legal, commercial, and corporate policy considerations.
• Collaborate effectively across departments to secure optimal contract terms while mitigating risk.
Qualifications:
• Must be a qualified attorney in Japan (Bengoshi) or common law jurisdiction
• Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English is essential.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience in private practice or an in-house legal department.
• Strongly preferred: Experience in the medical service sector or in-depth knowledge of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Act.
• Experience in handling Anti-Monopoly Law issues is a significant advantage.
