■About our Client
Our client is a prominent fintech company, part of a rapidly growing group, focusing on delivering innovative financial solutions with cutting-edge technology. They are currently undergoing significant organizational changes aimed at improving scalability and performance in their engineering divisions.
■Job Description
The company is expanding engineering division and revisiting technical architecture to enhance scalability, maintainability, and performance. Alongside these technical efforts, they are also rethinking the organization and work processes. Our client is seeking Engineering Managers (EM) who can not only ensure timely, high-quality team deliveries but also drive organizational change. EMs and Tech Leads will collaborate closely to align both organizational and architectural roadmaps.
You’ll work with engineers, Product Managers, Designers, QA, PMO, Talent Acquisition, HR, and other managers to shape the long-term strategy. While the team will primarily communicate in English, many stakeholders speak Japanese, as we transition towards English as our working language.
This role presents a rare opportunity to engage in significant organizational changes and address challenging technical problems, while contributing ideas that shape the technical and organizational vision.
■Main Responsibilities
・Team Leadership: Lead a backend-focused team, balancing hands-on involvement with strategic planning.
・Tactical: Assign projects based on skills, resolve conflicts, and support timely, high-quality deliveries.
・Strategic: Foster growth through 1:1s and manage the entire employee lifecycle.
・Operations: Drive continuous improvement in delivery, reliability, and developer experience.
・Tactical: Address pain points, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure sustainable product and architecture decisions.
・Strategic: Shape a development process that enables steady progress and contributes to the product and technical roadmap.
・Growth & Change Management: Prepare the team and stakeholders for organizational and technical changes.
・Tactical: Identify growth opportunities and support architectural redesigns when necessary.
・Strategic: Contribute to hiring strategies and ensure flexibility in team structure for future growth.

- ■Required Qualifications

▶Technical skills: contributing to the implementation
・Has 2 years, or more, of experience of leading web application engineer teams
Has past experience as software engineer, backend or frontend
・Has proven records of significant contributions to scalable architectures and system designs
・Has solid tasks definition and breakdown skills, when provided functional requirements
▶Soft skills: interacting smoothly with stakeholders
・Has good stakeholder management, coordination and conflict handling skills
・Speaks and writes business level English
・Speaks and writes conversational Japanese
▶Leadership: taking the team to the next level
・Focuses on people growth success
・Is able to efficiently follow-up the progress, and blockers, for all on-going tasks
・Has a genuine care for continuous improvement and developer experience
▶Strategy: defining and implementing a vision
・Has experience building or contributing to technical roadmaps
・Has interviewing experience
