Are you a seasoned legal professional looking to take the next step in your career? We are currently seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to join our clients team in Tokyo, Japan. As Legal Counsel, you will serve as a vital business partner, providing expert legal advice on a wide range of matters to support their Consumer Healthcare business unit.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing the strategy and day-to-day operations of our Consumer Healthcare business unit in Japan.
- Provide daily advice and support to various business support functions, including medical affairs, procurement, and more.
- Manage licensing and other commercial transactions in Japan in collaboration with the Corporate Legal team.
- Work closely with the Compliance team to ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.
- Handle dispute resolutions and contribute to the development of our legal knowledge base.
- Educate and train internal stakeholders on legal matters.
- Improve, streamline, and simplify processes and procedures.

Requirements:
- Law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from a leading university or law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Japan or other jurisdictions.
- Minimum of 8 years post-qualification legal experience at a top national or international law firm or the legal department of a multinational operating company.
- Extensive experience dealing with broad legal matters, including litigation, agreements, and transactions.
- Legal experience in the life science or consumer healthcare industry is preferable.

- Highest standards of ethics and integrity with the ability to handle sensitive or contentious matters in a timely and constructive manner.
- Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English, with the ability to draft legal documents in both languages preferred.
